Internships

If your company is interested in offering a technical communication internship, contact Muriel Zimmerman or the UCSB Writing Program at (805) 893-4808. UCSB Writing Program Minors in Professional Writing are available to work as interns in a variety of business and professional settings. Internships can be paid or unpaid, and interns can work 5-25 hours per week.

Creating portfolio materials is a step toward getting a job as a technical communicator. Students working toward UCSB's Professional Writing Minor need internships in order to gain real-world experience and materials for their portfolios.

Other ways to gather portfolio materials are to volunteer to write a document for a non-profit organization or a college department.
